Hi, I am Melanie Pike and I am a Soft Tissue Therapist, helping people suffering from acute or chronic muscular pain.
Since childhood I have lived a very active lifestyle and as a consequence have endured my fair share of injuries. In my youth I used to play Netball for my school, club and Oxfordshire, which mean that I was often suffering from some sort of issue, but still had to carry on playing and fulfil my commitments. My sporting past has given me great empathy for people suffering with an injury, especially the pain and frustration it causes. I have experienced first hand the importance of effective rehabilitation following an injury, but also steps you should undertake to prevent such occurrences.
My pursuit of soft tissue therapy was driven by an injury sustained in 2009, where I was unable to work for 2 months. The rehabilitation I received triggered my fascination of how touch can help change soft tissues and promote healing.
In 2011 I attended an Introduction to Massage Workshop through Oxford School of Sports Massage, which reaffirmed my desire to pursue this as a career. The following year I returned and completed the ISRM/BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage. It is a professional diploma and the highest achievable in Sport and Remedial Massage field. Upon graduation I became a full member of the ISRM (Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage) and in 2013 I began working as an Assistant Tutor for OSSM. Over the last 6 years I have assisted in the delivery of the Introduction to Massage Workshops and Diploma course.
